2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Trim Levels
Jeep completely redesigned the popular Grand Cherokee for the 2022 model year. This midsize model is available in five trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit. The Grand Cherokee L is a slightly larger version of the SUV with a third row of seating, although Jeep sells it as a separate model. Standard equipment includes 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, roof rails, and LED headlights with the base Laredo trim.
Stepping up to the Limited trim adds a power liftgate, LED fog lights, and 18-inch wheels. Both the Trailhawk and Overland trims are the most well-equipped for off-roading. The Trailhawk has upgraded all-terrain tires, front tow hooks, an electronically disconnecting stabilizer bar, and an electronic rear limited-slip differential. Some of these features come standard on the Overland, including a two-speed transfer case, 20-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof. At the top of the list, the Summit trim features a glossy-black roof.
Engine
Vehicle owners can choose from three powertrain options on this midsize SUV. All models come standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The 4xe powertrain could be your best bet if fuel efficiency is a significant consideration. It's available on the upper four trims and includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
The third option is a 5.7-liter V-8 that delivers 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. All three engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all models, but the Trailhawk and four-wheel drive elements are options. If you opt for the 4xe or V-8 powertrain, your Grand Cherokee will come with Jeep's four-wheel-drive system as standard.
Performance
Interior
With seating for five and a spacious cargo area, this midsize model offers an attractive cabin. The base trim has dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker sound system, cloth upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and an 8.4-inch touch screen. The Limited trim tacks on heated rear seats, leather upholstery, and power front seats.
Choose the Trailhawk or Overland trim to get an upgraded audio system, premium upholstery with faux suede accents, and ventilated front seats. Additional luxury upgrades include a wood-trimmed steering wheel and a 10.1-inch touch screen with the top Summit trim. Indulge in comfort with the four-zone climate control and massaging front seats.
