2020 Dodge Durango

The 2020 Dodge Durango is available in five trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, and SRT. The first four trim levels utilize rear-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option. The top-of-the-line SRT is only offered with all-wheel drive.

The 2020 Dodge Durango base SXT starts up with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The GT adds 20-inch alloy wheels and a more assertive appearance with trim pieces from the R/T and SRT. The Citadel shares the same base V-6 engine, while the R/T trim level increases the power with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine. The SRT is the powerhouse of the trims with a 6.4-liter V-8.

The 3.6-liter V-6 engine has a robust 295 horsepower, and with standard load-leveling rear suspension, the base SXT tows up to 6,200 pounds — way ahead of the pack. The R/T is performance-inspired with its brawny 5.7-liter V-8 engine putting out 360 horsepower, giving the R/T a towing capacity of 7,400 pounds. The high-performance SRT will give you muscular, on-road power like no other with its 6.4-liter V-8 pumping out 475 horsepower. The SRT has considerable mechanical upgrades increasing tow capacity up to 8,700 pounds. This SUV also has real off-road capabilities with four-wheel drive, low-range gearing, and performance-tuned suspension that will give the extra boost required on boat ramps and tough terrain.

Seven-passenger seating is standard on the first three trims, the SXT, the GT, and the R/T. Standard on the Citadel and the SRT, second-row captain's chairs reduce seating capacity to six people. Starting with the base SXT, you'll find the Durango is a competent family hauler. Three-zone climate control, power-folding third-row headrests, and a push-button start are just the beginning of the sense of function you'll find in this well-turned-out SUV.

A 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to the GT adds features such as remote ignition, a power liftgate, a power driver's seat, along with a 115-volt power outlet. The Citadel trim brings in luxury while staying with the base V-6 engine. Leather and vinyl upholstery, comfy heated front and second-row seats, and an 8.4-inch touch screen with navigation round out the model. A nine-speaker stereo system means you can immerse yourself in your favorite music.

Blind-Spot Monitoring illuminates a light on either of the side mirrors when a vehicle enters your blind spot, or with Forward Collision Warning when an imminent collision is detected. Lane Departure Warning Plus will sound a warning if the Durango drifts from its lane without the turn signal being activated. The NHTSA gave the Durango five stars for Side Barrier, Side Crash, and Side Pole Crash ratings, earning four stars overall. The IIHS rated this SUV as good in all its tests.
